Maria the radiant

Maria is a representation of a Bulgarian woman in wedding headdress from my hometown. Traditionally, brides had rich attire with headdresses that resembled those of the royal and noble families. The rich could afford to include gold coins and gems, but the poor used glass beads to decorate their wedding dresses and headdresses. This woman, named Maria, a favorite name in Bulgaria, radiates simplicity and purity of soul. Her face does not need makeup or other embellishments because she is so beautiful in character. This is the essential woman - perhaps the Bulgarian version of the Virgin Mary - Maria the Radiant.
