St. Ephraem's lenten prayer

This "Lenten Prayer of St. Ephraim the Syrian" is a pattern based on manuscript, a Four Gospels book, 1577. This ancient prayer is a favorite of many people, as written by the 4th century Church Father. It resonates well with our common human condition, a condition that has not changed over the 18 centuries. This was the first piece that I designed by incorporating the Word with manuscript illumination. The design resembles Celtic patterns, although Slavic illuminators created it. Orthodox believers say this prayer on a daily basis during Lent in anticipation of Easter, seeking to repent in truth and love.
