St Francis' Prayer for Peace

This beautiful prayer of peace, attributed to St. Francis (1182-1226), first appeared during the First World War. It was found written on a holy card of St. Francis, which was found in a Normal Almanac. The prayer bore no name; but in the English-speaking world it came to be called the Peace Prayer of St. Francis. Whether St. Francis composed it or not, his life exemplified these words, and he became a living embodiment of this prayer - the authentic Christian life of simplicity, humility, poverty of spirit, and love as a little child.
