Wedding at Cana

This piece is from the Series Perspective from Above. Christ typically appears as the Omniscient - with his head like an eye, spreading hands to bless others. Here, Christ is next to His mother - the Holy Theotokos, turning water into wine. You see the six jars according to the Gospel full of water flowing, and He holding a seventh jar with the transformed wine - the Eucharistic blood of Himself and his sacrifice for our salvation and eternal life. The blood-wine flows into the chalice held by the newly-wed couple. The Eucharistic theme is visible through the symbols of the Vine and grapes, and the Wheat as Christ is the Vine and the Bread of Life.
