The bread offering

"I AM the Bread of Life" is a favorite quotation, and this design grew somewhat organically from a dedication to prepare the Holy Bread of offering each Sunday. This Holy Bread is the most essential part of our lives because it nurtures our bodies and our souls. This woman, dressed in the traditional Bulgarian headdress and clothes, offers herself and her creation - the bread - to God. This is her Eucharist, her ministry, making the Holy Bread that will be consecrated as the Body of Christ during the Holy Liturgy. The bread emanates beams of light of wheat grains. The Bread of Life nurtures our souls for immortality. The woman is surrounded by seven sunflowers that symbolize the seven spirits standing at God's Altar. Try to visualize this as a union between humanity and God. The woman humbly bows down before God, offering her Bread.
